The Nigerian government has rolled out a Contactless Passport Renewal System in Europe, allowing Nigerians in the diaspora to renew their passports remotely. This initiative is part of broader efforts to modernize consular services and provide seamless access to essential documentation.
Under this system, eligible Nigerians can seamlessly renew their passports through an online platform, eliminating the need for embassy or consulate visits. By reducing wait times and travel burdens, the initiative is expected to enhance efficiency in passport processing.
Speaking through an official statement, the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, affirmed that the passport renewal system was developed to provide Nigerians overseas with a more seamless experience. He noted that this reform aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda, which focuses on improving governance and public services.
