Ganduje Refutes Assertion Of Conspiring To Unseat Emir Sanusi

Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the ruling APC, refuted the accusation that he was involved in a fresh conspiracy to oust the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, calling the claims completely unfounded during a statement made on Thursday.

This statement follows a surge of activity on social media, where a viral post accused Ganduje of orchestrating a new scheme to dethrone Emir Muhammad Sanusi, captioned, “Ganduje leads fresh plot to dethrone Emir Muhammad Sanusi.”

Emir Sanusi was reinstated in May, roughly four years after he was deposed while Ganduje served as the governor of Kano State. His dethronement received judicial endorsement, a decision that many critics argue was heavily influenced by the Ganduje-led government.

On Thursday, Ganduje released a statement in Abuja, disavowing any claims linking him to a new initiative aimed at dethroning Sanusi. He called the allegations “lame” and emphasized that, as a former governor, he has no capacity to carry out such a move against the Emir.

“Ganduje has nothing to do with the present enthronement or dethronement of Emir Mohammad Sanusi in Kano. It should be noted that he is no longer the executive governor or the Speaker of the House of Assembly and therefore cannot have anything to do further with the Emirship of Kano.”

He continued, “It is laughable that Ganduje, who has left office as governor for some years now, would be accused of masterminding a fresh plot to remove or enthrone an Emir. He is now very busy with leading the APC.

“He is satisfied with the enormous contributions he made in terms of massive dividends of democracy, infrastructural developments, and the good governance he provided while he held sway as governor,” the statement read.

He noted that the people pushing this narrative were intent on creating tension between Ganduje and the Presidential administration.

“Let me reiterate here that he (Ganduje) has great respect for the national leader of the party, President Bola Tinubu. The relationship has been very cordial, and no amount of blackmail can destroy the solidity of the partnership,” he said.
