Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has mocked former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, following the outcome of the by-election in the state.
Soludo said the results of Saturday’s by-elections in the state showed that the Labour Party and the African Democratic Congress, ADC, are “dead” and “non-existent” in Anambra.
He made the remarks on Sunday during an event in the Nanka area of the state to celebrate the victory of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, in the by-elections.
Soludo also mocked Obi, who supported ADC candidates in the polls, insisting the party does not exist in Anambra.

“ADC does not exist in Anambra. We showed it yesterday, Saturday. Labour Party is dead,” Soludo said.
According to him, the ADC opposition coalition had sought to use the by-election in Anambra to test its popularity, but “the people spoke overwhelmingly with over 75%.”
He added: “APGA is our movement.”
The Eastern Updates reports that Obi, a member of the Labour Party, had aligned with the ADC coalition seeking to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election.
The Eastern Updates had reported that In what can be described as flexing of financial muscles, the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, and the African Democratic Congress, ADC, are engaging in vote buying in the Onitsha North 1 State Constituency by-election in Anambra State.
While APGA is working to install a replacement for the late lawmaker, Hon Justice Azuka, ADC is fighting to help the deceased lawmaker’s wife, Mrs Justina Azuka, to replace her husband.
Despite being regarded as a small electoral contest, the Onitsha North 1 by-election has proven to be a tough one, as the state governor, Chukwuma Soludo, is striving to prove a point with the election in a bid to show popularity ahead of the governorship poll in November.
