Inadequate Security Responsible For PDP Secretariat Fight – Wabara

Listen to article

The chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Board of Trustees, BoT, Adolphus Wabara has attributed the brawl at a recent meeting at the party’s headquarters to inadequate security.

Wabara stated this on Wednesday at the BoT meeting held at the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja.

Recall that on January 29, a fight broke out at the meeting of the BoT over the leadership crisis involving the national secretary position.

Wabara, while speaking at the BoT meeting on Wednesday in Abuja, said the BoT would no longer hold meetings at the party headquarters until security improves.

“While we look ahead with optimism, we must also acknowledge the unfortunate incident that took place during our last board of trustees meeting.

“These incidents were largely due to inadequate security at the party headquarters. As a result and after thorough consideration, the BoT has resolved that until the security situation is effectively addressed, its subsequent meetings will be held outside of the party secretariat.

“The safety of our members and the integrity of our discussions must never be compromised,” he said.

The former senate president urged the PDP leadership to urgently take necessary steps to rectify this situation so that our party secretariat remains a safe and secure place for party affairs.

In other news, The Senate officially confirmed on Wednesday the defection of Senator Ned Nwoko, who represents Delta North, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). This move comes after his recent resignation from the opposition party, marking a significant shift in his political allegiance.

Senator Ned Nwoko pointed to the growing instability and internal conflicts within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as key factors influencing his defection. He argued that the party’s current turmoil posed a significant threat to his political prospects, which led to his decision to align with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
