Lagos authorities have taken drastic action against two serial polluters, Landcraft Industries Nigeria and the Word of Light Christ Ministry’s Camp of Light, sealing off their premises for flagrant disregard of environmental regulations and excessive noise levels.
The state’s Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, broke the news on Wednesday via a statement on his handle, shedding light on the government’s swift action against the two environmental offenders.
According to Commissioner Wahab, Landcraft Industries Nigeria, nestled in Odogunyan, Ikorodu, Lagos, faced closure due to its egregious environmental transgressions, while the Word of Light Christ Ministry’s Camp of Light, situated in Oriokuta, Ikorodu, was shut down for its excessive noise levels.
“The enforcement operation, led by Deputy Director Enforcement Department, Babatunde Gbenga, was aimed at ensuring compliance with the Lagos State Environmental Laws 2017,” he said.
The General Manager of Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency, Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, said, “The agency took these decisive actions after issuing repeated warnings to both establishments to address their respective environmental concerns, which were disregarded.

“The sealing demonstrates LASEPA’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the environment and public health.”
The General Manager of LASEPA emphasized his agency’s zero-tolerance stance, vowing to take swift and decisive action against any establishment that fails to adhere to the state’s stringent environmental regulations.
He emphasized the importance of environmental stewardship, encouraging all industries and establishments in Lagos to make sustainability a top priority and comply fully with regulations to avoid facing enforcement action..
LASEPA had taken an enforcement action against five churches and 19 hotels, shutting them down between March 23 and April 26 for failing to meet environmental regulations.
The agency’s enforcement actions also impacted commercial establishments, with at least four markets and shopping complexes shut down for noise pollution and other environmental transgressions.
