Less than a month after an Abuja-bound United Nigeria Airlines (UNA) Flight, UN504 diverted to Asaba, the airline is the news again for the same reason, this time, for diverting another Lagos-Anambra bound flight to the Delta State capital.
The Eastern Updates recalls that the Airline had on Sunday, November 26 diverted its Lagos-Abuja flight to Asaba, the Delta State capital
The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), confirmed the latest incident on Monday morning.
The NCAA in a statement issued by its Director of Public Affairs & Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu, said the agency is investigating the incident.

While noting that some passengers were taken to a nearby hotel in Asaba, the agency said that other passengers chose alternative means of transportation to their destination.
It assured the general public of aviation safety, compliance and strict enforcement of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations.
The statement read: “Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), is aware of the diversion of United Nigeria Airlines flight UN542 Lagos-Anambra to Asaba, which occurred on 30th December 2023.
“While flight diversions are not uncommon in the air transportation business, the NCAA is investigating this incident and wishes to assure the general public of aviation safety, compliance and strict enforcement of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations.
“We have been informed by United Nigeria airline staff that some passengers have been taken to the Hotel, while others chose alternative means of transportation to their destination.
“NCAA is monitoring this incident closely.”
