The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) has called on the residents of Enugu State to furnish them with actionable intelligence in 2024 to enable them nip all crimes in the bud.

Mr Muhammed Dada who is the Commandant (NSCDC), Enugu State Command, made the call while speaking with newsmen in Enugu on Saturday on collaborative ways to stem crime in 2024.

Dada explained that the journey ahead required collective action and a shared commitment to safety.

He said, “I appeal to each resident of our dear state to provide actionable intelligence – your eyes and ears on the ground – are invaluable in our efforts to maintain peace and security.

“As we bid farewell to the challenges of 2023 and stand on the platform of a brand-new year, I find great pride in celebrating the unity that binds us as a community.”

According to him, residents’ unwavering support for security agencies had been a beacon of strength, imploring residents to stand by security agencies in the coming year.

He encouraged the people of the state to in the spirit of cooperation, extend their support to both the Federal and state governments, stressing that working hand in hand would enable a strong foundation for a prosperous New Year.

“Your backing empowers us to respond effectively to challenges, fostering an environment where progress and safety go hand in hand,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dr. Peter Mbah, the Governor of Enugu State, has foreseen a bright 2024 for Nigeria, advising citizens to stay hopeful as the positive impacts of certain economic policies implemented in 2023 are projected to unfold in the new year.

Governor Mbah expressed confidence in disruptive economic growth for the people of Enugu State in the new year. He attributed this to the implementation of various projects, policies, and laws, including the state’s 2024 Appropriation Law, in the just-ended year.

The governor communicated this sentiment in his New Year message to Nigerians and the populace of Enugu State on Sunday.
