The Abia State chapter of the Young Progressive Party (YPP), has announced the suspension of its Chairman, Uluocha Nelccin Chimezuo for allegedly engaging in anti-party activities, replacing him with Mr Uzodinma Nwoko as the acting Chairman cum Secretary.
The Eastern Updates gathered that this decision was taken pending another congress of the party.
In a communique issued at the party’s secretariat at 75 Aba Road in Umuahia on Wednesday which was sent to The Eastern Updates, members of the State Working Committee (SWC) of the YPP said it suspended the former Chairman, Uluocha Nelccin Chimezuo from the party for alleged anti-party activities before and during the 2023 general elections.

The party said it was unacceptable for the suspended YPP Chairman to accept to become the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Revenue Service Mobilization to the Chairman of Umuahia North LGA, Victor Ikeji.
The party, which said it notified the national secretariat of the SWC’s decision, explained that Uluocha Nelccin Chimezuo could no longer function as the party Chairman for picking up the SSA job.
It added that the suspended Chairman contravened Section 31.14 and Article 31, of the YPP constitution.
YPP further maintained that it did not enter any alliance with the Labour Party, wondering why the suspended Chairman refused to resign from the SSA appointment.
