Listen to article

The Special Adviser to the Imo State Governor on Diaspora Affairs, Honourable Cllr Osakwe-Hibbert has expressed serious shock over the alleged assassination of Ahmed Gulak, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Owerri, the Imo State capital yesterday.

While sympathising with his relatives and friends, she reminisced on his friendly disposition towards his colleagues and friends. She also wished her heartfelt condolences to his  friends and family. In her words:

‘Here I am a few months ago, having casual conversation with Gulak. I spoke Hausa to him and he uttered some Igbo language too. He had so many great things to share about ‘the East’. A man full of life and completely detribalised.

Sadly this life was cut so short.

We must know that, whenever we fail to keep our visitors safe nor our indigenes safe, then collectively we have failed as a community. Some say Government is responsible but they forget ‘Government’ is me, Government is you and Government is everyone of us!

I pray the love of Allah enfolds His family  during this difficult time and I pray His family and loved ones heal with the passage of time.

Hon. Cllr Celia Osakwe-Hibbert
Special Adviser to the Governor of Imo State on Diaspora Affairs
