Afrobeats singer, Davido (David Adeleke) has announced his decision to discontinue the ongoing custody case involving his daughter, Imade, while voicing strong displeasure over what transpired during court proceedings.
In a post shared on X late Friday, the artiste clarified that he never sought sole custody of his daughter, contrary to widespread speculation.
According to him, his request was strictly for joint custody.
“I never asked for full custody … I asked for joint custody. Nobody won, nobody lost but Imade … so I don’t know why some pple r celebrating. There’s nothing to celebrate,” he wrote.

Davido further disclosed that he opted to withdraw from the case after what he described as an unacceptable turn during courtroom exchanges. He alleged that references were made to his late son, which he described as deeply distressing.
“I’ve decided to drop the case because … until she brought out her last card! MY DECEASED SON! THAT’S A NO NO! Lowest blow!” he stated.
He added that his actions were driven by love and responsibility toward his daughter, stressing that his efforts would not go unnoticed in the future.
“My daughter will grow up knowing I fought for her … let’s move on. One love!” he wrote.
The singer also took to his Instagram story to criticise the opposing legal team, alleging unprofessional conduct during the proceedings.
“I disgraced you in the courtroom … I was teaching you your work … and then went on to mention my son. Like I said in the courtroom, I pray you never go through what me and my wife have gone through ever,” Davido wrote.
These reactions followed earlier posts by Lagos-based legal practitioner, Maruf Muhammed, who had drawn public attention to what he described as tense moments at the Lagos State High Court, Yaba.
“Davido in High Court, Yaba now! Come and see drama in court. The lawyer made 001 lose his patience during cross-examination o! Be you never so high, the law is above you,” Muhammed posted.
When queried by another user about the matter before the court, it was clarified that the session related to the custody of Davido’s daughter, Imade.
Imade was recently spotted spending quality time with her father following her triumph at a talent competition, a moment that delighted fans and reinforced the shared commitment of both parents to her well-being.
The long-standing custody clash between Davido and his daughter’s mother remains under the spotlight, as fans and well-wishers suggested peaceful co-parenting.
Nigerian Afrobeat singer, Wizkid, has blasted his senior colleague, 2Baba, for rating Burna Boy ahead of him on the global stage.
The Eastern Updates reports that 2Baba had during a recent interview with Seun Okinbaloye, shared his opinion on the popular ‘Big 3’ – a term used to describe Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy, who are celebrated as Nigeria’s most dominant global musical exports.
Answering questions about the debate on who among the three musicians reign supreme in the industry, 2Baba named Burna Boy as number one Nigerian artiste “on the global stage”.
However, reacting to 2Baba’s opinion, Wizkid in a post on Snapchat, described him as old man.
While telling 2Baba to make peace with his family first instead of sharing opinion about music, Wizkid stated, “I’m never letting it slack in 2026.”
“At least make peace with your family first before having opinions about music. Old man,” he added.
The Eastern Updates recalls that Wizkid had a few months ago declared himself the country’s number one Afrobeat star.
United States singer Britney Spears has become the latest musician to sell the rights to her catalog that includes hits like “…Baby One More Time” and “Oops!…I Did It Again,” US media reported Tuesday.
Spears has songwriting credits on nearly 40 of the songs in her catalog, although few of them were major hits apart from the ballad “Everytime” and fan favorites like “Me Against the Music,” “S&M,” “Work Bitch!” and others.
The deal is believed to be worth around $200 million, according to sources cited by celebrity site TMZ, though it said the exact amount is not detailed in legal documents.
Spears, 44, joins a growing list of artists who have sold their music rights in recent years including Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan.
Spears has not released an album since 2016’s “Glory” and has not performed in concert since October of 2018, closing out her “Piece of Me” tour with a final show at the Formula One Grand Prix in Austin, Texas.
She had been scheduled to return to Las Vegas in 2019 for a second residency, “Domination,” following the success of her first residency, “Britney Spears: Piece of Me,” which concluded in 2017. However, she ultimately postponed the “Domination” show and stepped away from performing indefinitely.
