Rabiu Kwankwaso Is Still Not Our Leader – NNPP Chieftain

National Vice Chairman, Northwest, New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, Alhaji Sani Danmasani, has said that the 2023 presidential candidate of the party, Rabiu Kwankwaso, is not the party’s leader either in Kano State or across the federation.

In a statement on Monday, Danmasani also stated that Governor Yusuf’s defection did not mean that Kwankwaso, who had long been expelled from the NNPP, and members of his Kwankwasiya Movement were back.

He described Governor Yusuf as one of the party’s national leaders.

The NNPP chieftain expressed surprise that most media houses in Nigeria are still referring to Kwankwaso as the leader of the NNPP.

According to him, Kwankwaso has betrayed the party and is still trying to hijack it as an expelled member.

He said the party has proofs to sensitize media practitioners that Kwankwaso, Buba Galadima, and others have been expelled from the party.

“Aside from the decision of the party through internal disciplinary measures to expel them, the Abia State High Court and the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Abuja, have legally confirmed their expulsion,” he said.

The party chieftain added that the Abuja Court issued an enrolment order restraining INEC from dealing or transacting any business with Kwankwaso and the Ajuji-led NWC, pending the outcome of an ongoing judicial review.

Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has again signaled his intention to run for Nigeria’s presidency in 2027, linking his political future to ongoing local elections in the Federal Capital Territory.

Obi made the remarks on the campaign trail in Abuja while mobilizing support for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate in the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) elections. Speaking directly to supporters, he framed the local contest as part of a broader national political journey.

“This coming election, support us in AMAC; it will help me,” Obi told the crowd, according to attendees. He added that backing the ADC candidate was “critical to our journey,” stressing: “I am involved and contesting the coming election as number one. When I come back, you will see. I assure you.”
