The Ukwa La Ngwa community in Abia State has made a significant contribution of ₦100 million toward Governor Alex Otti’s nomination form ahead of the 2027 governorship election. The announcement was made on Friday during a grand civic reception held in the governor’s honor at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba, according to a statement from Governor Otti’s Chief Press Secretary, Njoku Ukoha. The event brought together local leaders, residents, and political figures, reflecting strong public support for the governor.

Emmanuel Emeruwa, Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly and chairman of the steering committee for the civic reception, explained that the funds were raised collectively by the people of Ukwa La Ngwa and that additional contributions would be made if necessary. He described the donation as a demonstration of the community’s confidence in Otti’s leadership and governance style.

In his remarks, Governor Otti expressed profound gratitude for the reception and the endorsement, describing the turnout as “overwhelming.” He emphasized that his administration’s focus is on serving the people rather than advancing partisan interests. “This is your government, and your interest will always come first. This is not about party or partisan celebration,” Otti said, underscoring his commitment to inclusive governance.

The governor also highlighted ongoing and upcoming development projects in Aba. He announced that Ovom Road would be commissioned on February 25, the same day the reconstruction of the Enyimba Hotel would be flagged off. The five-star hotel, which will be managed by Radisson Blu, is expected to begin operations next year. Otti assured residents that the government’s approach is to follow through on projects, avoiding the practice of flagging off initiatives without completion.

Additionally, he urged residents to register for their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and take responsibility for security and cleanliness in their communities, noting that voter turnout in Aba did not reflect the city’s actual population.

Senator Adolphus Wabara, chairman of the event and Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party, described the reception as a clear public verdict on Governor Otti’s performance, while Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe and Labour Party National Secretary Darlington Nwokocha highlighted the governor’s achievements across sectors as the reason for his broad-based support. The civic reception reinforced the perception of Otti as a leader committed to tangible development and responsive governance.
