US President Donald Trump accused the mayor of Minneapolis and the state’s governor of “inciting insurrection” Saturday over their response to the killing of a civilian in the city by federal officers.
“The Mayor and the Governor are inciting Insurrection, with their pompous, dangerous, and arrogant rhetoric,” Trump wrote on social media, ratcheting up his stand-off with Democratic Mayor Jacob Frey and Governor Tim Walz.\

Trump has previously threatened to invoke the Insurrection Act, which would allow him to send troops into Minnesota for law enforcement purposes.
Trump shared an image of the pistol allegedly confiscated from the victim in a Truth Social post, writing: “This is the gunman’s gun, loaded (with two additional full magazines!) and ready to go.”
“What is that all about? Where are the local Police Why weren’t they allowed to protect ICE officers? The Mayor and Governor called them off? It is stated that many of these Police were not allowed to do their job, that ICE had to protect themselves — Not an easy thing to do!” Trump continued.

He went on to claim there was a coordinated “cover up” to distract from tens of billions of dollars being stolen from the state, further accusing Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey (D) of “inciting Insurrection.”
“We are there because of massive Monetary Fraud, with Billions of Dollars missing, and Illegal Criminals that were allowed to infiltrate the State through the Democrats’ Open Border Policy,” Trump wrote.
“Much of what you’re witnessing is a COVER UP for this Theft and Fraud. The Mayor and the Governor are inciting Insurrection, with their pompous, dangerous, and arrogant rhetoric! Instead, these sanctimonious political fools should be looking for the Billions of Dollars that has been stolen from the people of Minnesota, and the United States of America,” he continued.
Both Walz and Frey renewed calls for federal agents to leave Minneapolis after another resident was shot and killed by a U.S. Border Patrol agent around 9 a.m. Saturday, just a block away from where Renee Good, 37, was fatally shot in her SUV earlier this month by an ICE officer.
“The invasion of these heavily armed, masked agents roaming around on our streets of Minneapolis, emboldened with a sense of impunity, it has to end,” Frey said at a press conference.
“This is not how it has to be,” he added, pleading with Trump to “act like a leader.”
A DHS official told The Hill’s sister network, NewsNation, that officers were conducting a targeted operation against a “illegal alien wanted for violent assault” when the altercation occurred, alleging an individual had approached two agents with a semi-automatic handgun.
The official said the individual “violently resisted” attempts by officers to disarm him, characterizing the circumstances as an “armed struggle.”
“Fearing for his life and the lives and safety of fellow officers, a Border Patrol agent fired defensive shots,” the official said, later adding that the individual had two magazines and no identification.
