UAE Rejects Trump’s Plan For ‘Displacement’ Of Palestinians

The United Arab Emirates on Wednesday rejected any attempts to displace Palestinians after United States President Donald Trump proposed taking over the Gaza Strip.

In a statement on Wednesday, the foreign ministry emphasised its categorical rejection of any infringement on the Palestinians’ unalienable rights and any attempts at displacement.

The Eastern Updates recalls that Trump has said that the US will take over the Gaza Strip to level it and rebuild the area.

Trump’s proposal, which was announced during a visit by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, sparked criticism from around the world, including close US allies Britain and France.

“The UAE underscored the importance of finding a serious political horizon to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and establish an independent Palestinian state, reflecting the UAE’s belief that regional stability can only be attained through the two-state solution,” the statement said.

The proposal of President Donald Trump of the United States to take over the war-torn Gaza Strip triggered confusion and skepticism from some of his fellow Republicans on Wednesday, while others backed the idea.

The Eastern Updates reports that Trump, meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on Tuesday, proposed that the US take over Gaza and create a “Riviera of the Middle East” after resettling Palestinians elsewhere.

The idea sparked international condemnation and some dissent from Republicans in Congress, who have largely fallen in line behind Trump’s initiatives, such as pausing foreign aid and eliminating thousands of federal workers.
