Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has approved the appointment of no fewer than 902 new civil servants in the state.

The Chairman of the Oyo State Civil Service Commission, Alhaji Kamoru Abiodun Aderibigbe, made this announcement in a statement made available to The Eastern Updates on Wednesday.

Aderibigbe, who urged the new entrants into the state civil service to express their gratitude to the governor, said: “The Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency Governor Seyi Makinde, has graciously approved the appointment of 902 officers into various cadres in the mainstream of the civil service of Oyo State.

“The recruitment, which is the first of its kind in the history of Oyo State, covers about 60 cadres across ministries, departments, and agencies. This includes education officers for 35 teaching subject areas in schools under the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.

“All successful applicants will receive their letters of appointment before the end of January 2025.”

In other news, Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, on Wednesday swore in eight new commissioners as part of efforts to revitalize his administration’s operations.

Governor Mohammed reiterated that it is a regular policy of his administration to reshuffle the state cabinet periodically to enhance its efficiency in policy development and execution.

After the new commissioners were confirmed by the State House of Assembly, the Governor revealed that five commissioners had been removed from the cabinet, with eight new appointments made.

“Two of the newly appointed commissioners will replace the former Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Hon. Aminu Hammayo, who has now been appointed Secretary to the State Government, and the late Aliyu Ahmed Jalam, who was the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs until his passing,” the Governor stated.

He also noted that one of the new appointees would oversee the newly established Ministry of Livestock Development.
