On Saturday, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken commented on the impeachment proceedings against South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol, framing it as a testament to the nation’s democratic strength.

Blinken praised the country’s institutional resilience, highlighting that such a move reflects the robust checks and balances within South Korea’s political system. He further emphasized America’s commitment to collaborating with South Korea’s new leadership, regardless of the political shifts.

“I think the most important thing is that the Republic of Korea demonstrated democratic resilience,” Blinken told reporters in Jordan.

“We’ve seen it follow peacefully a process laid out in its constitution,” he said.

In a statement on Saturday, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken referred to the impeachment of South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol as a clear indication of the robust democratic institutions in South Korea.
