The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State has firmly rejected accusations that Governor Hope Uzodinma deliberately withheld financial resources for an extended period, as had been previously claimed. They characterized the allegations as unfounded and asserted that such claims do not reflect the true state of affairs in the region.
The APC leadership has responded to the growing allegations, pointing out that these claims are being circulated by certain individuals and groups who insist on having credible information about the party’s supposed internal divisions.
Among the accusations, it was suggested that the state leadership of the party is at odds with Governor Hope Uzodinma, especially in light of his alleged abandonment of the party after the Local Council elections.
The APC’s State leadership, through Publicity Secretary Cajetan Duke, swiftly addressed the circulating rumors, categorically dismissing them as unfounded and malicious. The statement described the allegations as fabricated by the party’s enemies, whose envy over the APC’s notable success in the recent Local Council elections drove them to spread false claims.
He stated: “The attention of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Imo State chapter has been drawn to an article making rounds the social media platforms with the title “Imo APC is in Distress; State Exco Members Cry out for help, Accused Governor of Total Neglect”
The party spokesperson clarified that, contrary to the baseless and spiteful allegations of an individual seeking to tarnish the integrity of the party and diminish the credibility of the government, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State remains in robust health. He further emphasized that the party continues to function proactively, effectively fulfilling its duties and responsibilities.
He noted that the party has maintained transparent and up-to-date financial records, while highlighting the recent Local Government elections as a definitive demonstration of the undeniable fact that the APC in Imo State remains both functional and in a state of robust health.

“We completely align ourselves with the position of the writer on non-financial commitments or involvement of the Governor to the party day-to-day activities. We have continued to pride ourselves that our Governor has remained faithful and committed to his oath of office not to allow his personal interest to override his constitutional mandate to do the right thing.
It is also important to state to the benefit of uninformed writers that the Governor or state Government is not one of the sources of funding for our party.” he further stated.
Duke pointed out that the 2022 Constitution of the party as amended in article 22 A provides inter alia:
“The party shall derive funds from: membership dues, subscription fees , levies on members, poceeds from investment, donations and fund raising, gifts and grants, borrowing as approved by the National Executive Committee and any other lawful means.”
