The Osun State chapter of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, has issued a stern warning to the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Umar Ganduje, against turning the Southwest into a war zone with his recent comments.
The Eastern Updates recalls that Ganduje, during a visit to Akure, Ondo State, on Sunday after INEC declared Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa the winner of the governorship election, expressed confidence that APC would also win Oyo and Osun states in future elections.

A statement by the Osun chairman of NNPP, Tosin Odeyemi, on Monday in Osogbo slammed Ganduje’s remarks, describing them as reckless and unbecoming of an elder statesman, especially given the current economic hardships Nigerians are enduring under the APC-led government.
“One would have expected Dr. Ganduje to demonstrate better communication skills befitting his position. With the economic challenges Nigerians are facing, who would willingly vote for the APC? Ganduje should not be carried away by what transpired in Ondo State.
“Osun people are wise and peace-loving. Each party must allow voters to decide freely. Ganduje must not turn the Southwest into a war zone. Spoken words carry weight, and 2026 must be crisis-free in Osun,” he said.
He further challenged Ganduje to prove APC’s popularity by contesting in his own state, where NNPP had previously defeated the party by a significant margin.
In other news, the Osun State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has suspended former Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, over alleged anti-party activities.
In a resolution submitted to the APC National Secretariat and addressed to National Chairman Dr. Umar Ganduje, the Osun APC accused Aregbesola of creating divisions within the party by establishing a splinter faction.
The state party chapter said the move had undermined cohesion and unity, especially during a critical period in Osun politics.
The party said that Aregbesola’s actions have fueled internal divisions.
Aregbesola’s camp is yet to respond to the development.
