2024 Ballon d’Or winner, Rodri has revealed that he told former Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata that he won the prestigious individual prize without social media.
Rodri recently won this year’s Ballon d’Or ahead of strong contender Vinicius Junior.

“Álvaro Morata always told me: You’re stupid. If you had social media you would have a Ballon d’Or,” Rodri said as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.
“And as soon as I won it… I wrote to him: ‘Look, Ballon d’Or in my hands and no social media!”.
In other news, Gabriel Jesus has pleaded with Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta for more playing time.
Jesus, who is in his third season at Arsenal, has had to settle for bit part roles at the Gunners.
The former Manchester City’s striker’s lack of regular playing time has not been helped due to injuries.
After a long goal drought, Jesus opened his account by getting on the score sheet in the 3-0 win against Preston in the Carabao Cup.
Now the Brazilian is clamouring for more minutes from Arteta.
“I believe that not only me, but any player, all players, want to have more minutes. I’m obviously never going to cause anything in the club,” Jesus was quoted on Arsenal News Central.
“I am going to try to demonstrate on a daily basis, in training, and when I get into the games, have my chance, and do my thing and trust that things will happen.
“I’ve always made it very clear that I want to improve, that I want to try to do my best and help Arsenal. Obviously, my moment is not the best, it’s not the moment I wanted, that I would like.
