Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State revealed yesterday his intention to play a crucial role in determining who will succeed him after his term ends in 2027. This decision reflects his dedication to ensuring a seamless transition and upholding the policies he has championed during his administration.
While receiving the report from the Committee on Review and Update of Public Service Rules and Other Regulations in the State Civil/Public Service at the Executive Council Chambers of the Governor’s Office in Ibadan, Governor Seyi Makinde spoke candidly to those actively seeking to replace him. He encouraged a focus on the welfare of the people rather than the political jockeying that often characterizes such transitions.
He stressed his ability to shape the selection process, yet he acknowledged that the final decision ultimately rests in the hands of the electorate. This admission showcases the fundamental democratic principle that the people hold the power to choose their leaders.
His words: “I may not have the final say in who takes over, but I will have my input.

He advocated for a transition from traditional manual processes to modern digital systems, with the goal of minimizing unnecessary delays and enhancing overall efficiency within the workforce.
Earlier while submitting the reports and recommendations, chairman of the Committee, Chief Adebisi Adesola, said: “If implemented, these changes will result in greater output and better service delivery in line with global best practices.”
