Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde will today Chair the 12th edition of Zik lecture series holding today, 16th November, in Awka, Anambra State capital
The Eastern Updates gathered that the lecture series was put together in commemoration of the birthday of Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe, the first president of Nigeria.
The event is being organised by the Faculty of Social Sciences, Nnamdi Azikiwe University and it is scheduled to be held at the ASUU-UNIZIK secretariat conference hall.
The theme of the lecture is, ‘Reclaiming Zik’s World: Climate Justice and Africa’s Sustainable Development.’

According to a press release signed by the chairman of the Zik lecture series planning committee, Professor Uche Ebeze, the event will be chaired by the Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, while the former president of Malawi, Dr Joyce Banda will be the guest lecturer.
Some prominent guests expected at the event include the Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo as the chief guest of honour, Governor Alex Otti of Abia State as a special guest of honour and the former Governor of Anambra State, Mr Peter Obi as the distinguished guest of honour.
The benefactor of the Zik lecture series, Senator Ben Ndi Obi will also be on ground as well as the wife of Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe, Professor Uche Azikiwe.
Other dignitaries to grace the occasion are the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe and Eze Uzu Awka, Obi Gibson Nwosu as the Royal Fathers of the day and the adviser, Zik Lecture Series, Professor Nkemdili Au Nonyelu.
Meanwhile, the dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, UNIZIK, Professor Frank-Collins Okafor is the host of the event, while the vice chancellor, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Professor Charles Okechukwu Esimone is the chief host.
