Adamawa State Governor, Umaru Fintiri, Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, and other members of the former G5 were in Port Harcourt on Saturday for a grand reception in honour of Wike, who was hosted by the Rivers Ijaw Peoples Congress.
“Don’t ever think they are fighting me; they are not fighting me. I’m too big,” Wike said while addressing the crowd at the event.
“If you don’t recognize someone who is bigger than you, then you are sick. I’m far far (bigger than) all of them put together.
“Let nobody threaten anybody; all those threats are empty. Soon we will know who is relevant.
“I said nobody will take over the structure of the party. You can have all the money; if it didn’t dey, it didn’t dey.”
In other news, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has reportedly arrested and detained a former governor of Taraba State, Darius Ishaku, over an alleged fraud of ₦27bn.
Ishaku was reportedly picked up at his Abuja residence in the early hours of Friday.
The former governor was said to be still in the anti-graft agency’s custody as of the time of filing this report.
According to reporters, at least 15-count charges have been filed against Ishaku and he would be arraigned in court soon as evidence against him have been compiled.
“Yes, he’s in our custody right now. We have been investigating him covertly since he left as the State governor. There a lot of financial malfeasance he perpetrated,” the source said.
The spokesman of the EFCC, Dele Oyewale, confirmed the development but declined further comments, when contacted by the paper.
Ishaku’s arrest is coming on the heels of ongoing face-off between the commission and the former governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, who was alleged to have stolen N80.2bn.
