Authorities shared on Saturday that a violent episode in Alabama, marked by a mass shooting involving several perpetrators, has claimed the lives of no fewer than four individuals and left a substantial number wounded.
“We believe that multiple shooters fired multiple shots on a group of people” in the Five Points South district of Birmingham just after 11:00 pm, police officer Truman Fitzgerald told local media.
According to Fitzgerald, law enforcement discovered two adult men and one adult woman lying unresponsive on the sidewalk, each afflicted by gunshot wounds. Tragically, all three were pronounced dead at the scene.
He added that a fourth casualty was pronounced dead at a hospital nearby after being admitted for treatment.According to Fitzgerald, many people were hurt in the shooting, and among them, at least four are in critical condition due to severe injuries.
He further explained that the remaining victims suffered from a range of different injuries.

Police have not got anyone in custody over the shooting, Fitzman said, urging the public to provide any information that could help the investigation.
Several agencies are involved in the investigation, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Fire rescue services at on the scene Saturday night and had cordoned off the area.
As per data from the Gun Violence Archive, there have been at least 403 mass shootings in the U.S. this year, which are characterized as incidents where four or more individuals are affected, either killed or wounded.
The Gun Violence Archive indicates that firearms-related incidents have led to at least 12,416 deaths in the United States so far in 2024.
