The Labor Party in Abia state has appointed Emmanuel Nweze Otti as its acting Chairman, a role he will play until the party’s congress in mid-2025, when a substantive chairman is expected to be elected.
At the inauguration ceremony held at the Labour Party Secretariat in Umuahia, Governor Alex Otti revealed that the change in leadership was necessitated by the promotion of the former state chairman to the role of National Vice Chairman, South East, paving the way for Emmanuel Nweze Otti’s ascension.
Governor Otti, recognizing the party’s constitutional protocol that led to Emmanuel Nweze Otti’s selection, extended his warm congratulations to the new acting State Chairman on his well-deserved emergence.
Governor Otti exhorted the newly inaugurated State Chairman to embrace a leadership philosophy of impartial benevolence, urging him to “do good to all men without discrimination” and expressing unwavering confidence in his capacity to lead the party with unimpeachable integrity and fairness.

Governor Otti lauded the Labour Party members for their unwavering loyalty and dedication, which has been on full display since they joined the party in 2022, and recognized their significant contributions to ousting the PDP’s leadership in the state.
The Governor noted that despite being in power for just 14 months, his administration has made modest efforts to deliver democratic dividends to the people and assured citizens that greater developments are on the horizon.
He expressed confidence in the Labour Party’s ability to secure victory as the state gears up for the local government elections.
Governor Otti commended the Labour Party members for their remarkable loyalty and dedication, consistently demonstrated since joining the party in 2022, and recognized their vital role in ousting the PDP’s leadership and paving the way for a new era in the state.
