Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), believes Anambra State has been conspicuously absent from the national political conversation, and it’s imperative that the state is integrated into the mainstream to contribute its quota to the country’s progress.
During the inaugural ceremony of the Anambra State Consultative Council in Abuja yesterday, Ganduje made a passionate plea for the state’s reintegration into the national political mainstream, highlighting the critical role the council is poised to play in this endeavor.
The APC chairman stressed that Anambra State’s strategic importance makes it a vital prize that cannot be allowed to fall into the hands of rival parties, underscoring the need for the party to mobilize and reclaim the state.
Ganduje called on party loyalists to mobilize and ensure a resounding defeat for Governor Chkwuma Soludo in the upcoming governorship election, emphasizing the need for political unity in the region and an end to the current fragmentation that has seen four different parties hold sway over the five states.

The APC has two states in the region, while the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Labour Party (LP) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) hold sway each in the remaining three states.
Ganduje admonished party faithful that the defeat of the APGA-led administration in the governorship would be a step in the right direction to giving a bargaining power to the region in the mainstream politics.
He said: “With this division, what is your bargaining power in politics at the centre? What is your political investment? This is the crux of the matter. It is time the region come to the centre of Nigerian politics.
“Once we can leverage politically for APC, we assure you that what happened in second republic would also happen to the Southeast.
“I beckon on all to come out strong and support the repositioning of this party, for the overall interest of members, and the betterment of the people of Anambra.”
The APC’s Deputy National Organising Secretary, Nze Chidi Duru, believed that the party’s enhanced unity and cohesion have set the stage for a decisive triumph over APGA, ending its reign in the state.
Chief Basil Ejike, the party’s state chairman, urged the council members to brainstorm and develop effective tactics to secure a resounding victory in 2025, enabling the party to reclaim the seat of governance.
“It is pertinent to reiterate that the party has a target, which is to take over the Agu Awka Government House. All hands must be on deck, especially in this Council, which is a boardroom of sorts for incubation of ideas for the good and benefit of the Party,” Ejike said.
