Two children were crushed to death by a truck at the River Niger Bridge head in Onitsha, Anambra State yesterday, The Eastern Updates reports.
The Eastern Updates gathered that the truck suffered a brake failure, leading to the accident.
The incident happened on Saturday, around 5:00 pm.
The mother of the two deceased children however escaped alive.
An eyewitness, who confirmed the incident to The Eastern Updates, said: “The trailer which was heading towards Asaba lost control and hit the mother and her children alongside other passengers waiting to board vehicles heading to Asaba.

“The mother was lucky, as she escaped, but her two children were crushed to death.”
The eyewitness said the mother wailed inconsolably. Some other people involved in the accident sustained injuries.
As at the time of filing this report, the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has not commented on the incident.
In another report, the Police Command in Imo State, has confirmed the killing of two police officers attached to Mopol 18 by some yet-to-be-identified gunmen along Gariki Road in Okigwe area of Imo State.
In a statement signed by the command’s spokesman, Henry Okoye while confirming the attack said the officers were ambushed in the early hours of Saturday while on patrol duty along old Gariki Road, Okigwe by hoodlums who threw dynamite on the officer’s patrol vehicle and engaged them in a protracted gunfight.
He added that in the process, two officers paid the ultimate price while four others survived the attack.
According to the police spokesman, on receiving report of the ugly incident, the Commissioner of Police Imo State Command, CP Aboki Danjuma, alongside Commander Mopol 18 and 64, immediately led operatives of the Command’s Special Tactical Unit to the crime scene for on-the-spot assessment.
