The Anambra State Chapter of the Labour Party (LP) has announced its endorsement of the beleaguered National Chairman of the party, Comrade Julius Abure.
In a telephone interview with journalists in Awka on Sunday, the State Chairman of the party, Comrade Ogochukwu Emeh, affirmed that the leadership of the party under his stewardship in Anambra State firmly supports the Abure-Led National Working Committee.
As reported earlier by The Eastern Updates, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), headed by Comrade Joe Ajaero, had levied accusations against Abure, alleging his intentions to organize an “illicit convention.”
This purported scheme was purportedly designed to extend his leadership or, alternatively, appoint associates to govern in his stead.
Both the Joe Ajaero-led NLC and the House of Representatives Caucus of the LP had raised concerns regarding Abure’s proposed convention date.
However, Organised Labour, which constitutes a major power block within the party, has demanded that Abure step out. They said it would allow an election-independent audit into the party’s finances.
This was a sequel to allegations of financial impropriety levelled against him by the erstwhile National Treasurer.

Comrade Emeh reiterated that the Anambra State Chapter of the party would uphold the same position as the National Working Committee/Executive Council in addressing the ongoing circumstances.
He asserted that the position we take in Anambra will parallel that of the Abure-Led National Working Committee/Executive Council of the party. Our full support is behind the NWC.
“According to him, our position here in Anambra will not be different from that of Abure-Led National Working Committee/Executive Council of the party. We are strongly behind the NWC.”
“Whatever his led- NWC, said, it’s what we in Anambra will say. He is our National Chairman. We are behind him,” the chairman concluded.
