Abia Set To Host International Sports Business Conference

Abia State has concluded plans to host International Sports Business Conference (ISBUC) in Aba, the state’s business capital in the last quarter of 2024, The Eastern Updates can confirm.

The President of Aba Premier League Table Tennis Group, Dike Dimiri while speaking at a press briefing, said the event will bring together sports stakeholders including government, to discuss the business of sports, its opportunities, challenges, and viable solutions.

Dimiri who equally doubles as the Chairman, Abia State Table Tennis Association, said already, his outfit was constructing a sports events centre where the conference will hold.

He said upon completion, the centre will change the landscape of major indoor sports in the state.

“ISBUC is about building capacity in the sports business industry which is key to the development of the sports economy and its value chain.

He disclosed that his group’s current sports events product portfolio includes Aba Table Tennis Guvnor’s Crown, Aba Premier League Table Tennis, 100 Tables in 100 Schools, Intercollegiate Table Tennis Cup Aba and Grand Prix Table Tennis Aba,

He said that the objective of the group is to execute frameworks that promote the development and growth of a successful sports economy driven by an efficient sports value chain that creates fresh ways to experience sports for all stakeholders, which he said was why his group was building the sports centre.

“This will eventually be like a training hub and we’ll equip it with the necessary equipment to make it presentable to a standard needed.

“We want to bring boxing to Aba and for that purpose, we’ve partnered with various promoters and we’ve also partnered with some insurance companies to help us with life insurance”, he stated.
