Ohanaeze Storms Abia, Explains Support For Tinubu, Otti

Apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has praised the Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti for his achievements so far in office.

The President General of Ohanaeze, Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu who led the organisation’s executives on a working visit to the Governor in his country home, in Isialangwa South LGA, on yesterday.

Iwuanyanwu said that the Ohanaeze leadership was interested in knowing how those elected into political offices from the South East were doing.

Chief Iwuanyanwu briefed the Governor about what Ohanaeze, under his leadership, had been doing to unite and develop Igbo land.

He informed Governor Otti that although the Ohanaeze Ndigbo had supported the Labour Party (LP) Presidential Candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, in the last general election, because it felt that zoning favoured the Igbos to produce the next president, but with the declaration of President Bola Tinubu as the winner of the election, Ohanaeze had already written the president, pledging the support of the Igbos to this government, in order to unite and develop Nigeria.

Responding, Governor Otti thanked the Ohanaeze leadership for finding time to visit him and commended them for the good work they were doing in preserving the interest of Ndigbo in Nigeria.

He told the Igbo leaders that he was now focused on governance after his legal victory, pointing out that it would be wise for all to support the governments at the centre and state levels to fix Nigeria.

In another report, the Police Command in Imo State has confirmed an attack on a Correctional Service Farm Settlements, in Umualomoke community in the Okigwe Local Government Area of the state leading to the abduction of the officer in charge of the farm settlement, the death of a police inspector and the release of at least seven inmates.

In a statement by the police spokesman, Henry Okoye, the Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, has deployed the Command’s Special Tactical Squad to go all out in synergy with the military and other sister security agencies and hunt down those responsible for the attack.

In the statement which was obtained by The Eastern Updates, he also confirmed that the gunmen also attacked the residence of the lawmaker representing Imo North Senatorial District, Patrick Ndubeze, located within the area.
