Prof. Anthony Ani, the All Progressive Party (APC) candidate for the Ebonyi South senatorial rerun, Stated that his choice to vie for the senate position is driven by a commitment to contribute to shaping a future and improving Nigeria.
Prof. Anthony Ani, a renowned academic, shared in a conversation with journalists that an additional factor behind his decision to contest the position was the increasing call from his constituents for him to represent them effectively in the Senate.
Noting the critical need for a swift economic turnaround in Nigeria, Prof. Anthony Ani emphasized that the Senate should comprise individuals of substance, maturity, experience, and intelligence to lead the country towards advancement.
The senatorial seat for Ebonyi South became vacant due to the resignation of the former Deputy Senate Leader, Sen. David Umahi, who currently holds the position of Minister of Works.
“When I analyse the situation of our country I discovered that Nigeria is in a very critical situation, Nigeria is also in a cross road and whoever will represent us at the Senate must be people of substance,” Ani said.
According to him, the Senate needs people who will stand for truth, who will lobby to get something for their people, because Nigeria is a country where you have to fight and struggle for your people, if you don’t struggle for your people others will take your people’s share. And that is why I have accepted to go and represent the zone”.
Prof. Anthony Ani stated that, should he be elected, he would endeavor to bring government presence to the zone, expressing dissatisfaction with the perceived lack of sufficient efforts by past representatives.
The APC candidate, who recently garnered support from stakeholders in the zone, assured that he would not let his people down, pledging to provide the zone with qualitative representation.
He commended the transformative achievements accomplished by the President, stating that with individuals like them in the Senate, the President will achieve even more success.
“Ebonyi South is our inheritance and I think with my people support and prayers, I want to say that with humility and dedication, with the will of God I will not disappoint you all” he said”.
