Former aides of Chief Willie Obiano, the past Governor of Anambra State, are urging the current Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, to settle their severance packages.
The plea was raised by the aides at a reunion assembly in Awka on Sunday.
The aides disclosed that, sadly, no fewer than 42 appointees who served under the former Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, have passed away within two years of leaving office.

Lamenting the situation, they revealed that 42 of their fellow members passed away without receiving their severance allowances. Their appeal is now directed at the current governor of the state, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, to intervene and facilitate the payment of these allowances.
The Eastern Updates reported that Obiano, a month ago, echoed the same plea, underlining that the payment and appointment of certain aides into Soludo’s government were stipulations for his endorsement in Soludo’s succession.
The Anambra State Deputy Governor, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, a former political appointee under Obiano and who was at the function urged the former aides not to despair but to trust in God.
Pointing to the past collaboration, he mentioned that Governor Soludo had previously served as an appointee under Obiano, which dispelled reasons for panic.
