Abia Women Hold Protests Over Attack On Onyejeocha

Listen to article

All Progressives Congress (APC) women in Abia State under the aegis of Asiwaju Super Women (ASW), have protested in Umuahia over the recent demonstration by some women purported to be members of APC against the victory of the Minister of State for Labour, Hon Nkiruka Onyejeocha at the tribunal.

The demonstrating women were said to have attacked and accused Onyejeocha of not supporting President Bola Tinubu during the last election.

The pro Onyejeocha women who protested in Umuahia, sang solidarity songs in support of Tinubu and Onyejeocha and carried placards.

The women later took their protest to the national welfare secretary of APC, Hon Donatus Nwankpa, whom they urged to take their message to both the President and Minister of State for Labour in Abuja.

Leader of the protesters and the deputy women leader, ASW, Abia State, Mrs. Jane Ogbuta, accused the Labour Party in the state of hiring some women who are not Abians to demonstrate against Onyejeocha over her victory at the tribunal.

She said contrary to the allegations by the anti-Onyecheocha demonstrators, the minister was neither involved in anti-party activities during the election nor undermined the emergence of Tinubu as president.
