Otti Sends Warning To Illegal Levy Collectors, Extortionists

The Government of Abia State has warned that the present administra­tion in the state under the watchful eyes of Dr. Alex Otti will pay zero tolerance to all forms of ex­tortion and touting activities.

Governor Alex Otti, who was represented by the deputy governor, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, gave the warning when he received the pro­testing driver’s union, which came to register their grievances over the il­legal activities of one Tochi Ephraim and his men, who in defiance against the government directives, imposed on the drivers along Osisioma Fly­over, all sorts of illegal levies.

Emetu went on to assure them that Gov­ernor Otti would give a positive re­sponse to the issue and while assured that the perpetrators will be brought to book.

‘Your message has been well de­livered and you should be assured that the governor of the State would be duly informed and actions will be taken immediately.

‘Please I want you all to continue to be law abiding citizens of this state. We heard you loud and clear just wait for the government to respond to bring the needed help we have already told you people that help is here’.

The governor’s representative lauded the peaceful conduct of the protesting drivers who came direct­ly to lodge their complaints to the government instead of engaging in unacceptable ways of destroying properties of the government.

He assured them that the state government would ensure that the full arms of the law will take care of your problem.

In his speech, the Commissioner for Transport, Comrade Sunny, laud­ed the drivers for their orderliness, pointing out there is no one treated unfairly that will not protest espe­cially in a country where freedom of expression of freedom to exists.

He pointed out that the full weight of the law awaited anyone who saw himself or herself as being bigger than the state.
