Anambra Police Foil Armed Gang Activities, Recover Arms

A three-man criminal gang‘s nefarious activities came to a halt as the Anambra Police Command intercepted them while they were riding on a motorcycle at Littlewood Estate, Obosi.

DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the command’s spokesperson, made this disclosure in a statement on Friday in Awka, revealing that the operatives intercepted the gang during a patrol in Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area, around 11:30 hours on Thursday.

Ikenga reported that the police personnel faced the gang head-on in a heated firefight, and eventually, the hoodlums had no choice but to yield to the superior firepower of the operatives.

According to Ikenga’s account, the police personnel fearlessly confronted the gang in a firefight, resulting in the hoodlums’ admission of defeat in the face of the operatives’ superior firepower.

In the course of events, he detailed that the police operatives were able to apprehend two gang members, both of whom had gunshot injuries. Additionally, the police recovered two Beretta pistols and two rounds of ammunition.

The identities of the two arrested hoodlums as shared by Ikenga are Amaechi Precious, aged 25, from Obosi, and Almazer Avalumo, aged 25, from Afikpo in Benue State.

As stated by the police spokesman, the third suspect evaded arrest and successfully fled from the location.

He informed that CP Aderemi Adeoye, the Commissioner of Police in Anambra, has encouraged police officers to continue their battle against criminal elements, no matter where they may be lurking.
