7 Escape Death As Truck Rams Into Street Traders In Anambra

No fewer than seven persons narrowly escaped death last night at Nnobi junction in Anambra State, after a mini truck rammed into Street traders at the junction.

The Eastern Updates gathered that two other persons, the unidentified driver of the truck and the rider of a CY 90 motorcycle crushed by the truck sustained various degrees of injuries.

They are now receiving treatment.

According to sources, the truck which was overloaded with bags of onions was heading to the market at the Nnobi junction from the Nkpor end of the road and was trying to avoid heating pedestrians at the ever-busy junction when it suddenly experienced brake failure and loss of control.

The truck knocked the motorcycle into the gutter where the street traders had their wares displayed and squizzed it under its front wheel while the truck shattered itself in the process.

When newsmen reached the scene of the accident, the injured persons had been taken to hospital while some good Samaritans were seen offloading the vehicle which had its head plunged inside the gutter, and retrieving trapped goods inside the gutter.

Onlookers gathered at the place while onions, mango fruits among other things scattered about the scene of the incident.

There were not any Road Safety officials at the scene of the accident at press time.
