EFCC Nabs 9 Alleged Internet Fraudsters In Enugu

Fresh reports reaching the desk of The Eastern Updates have revealed that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested nine suspected internet fraudsters in Enugu.

They had been reportedly arrested on Friday at the Transekulu and Monarch areas of the state and the EFCC Head of Media, Wilson Uwujaren, announced the raid in a statement.

The suspects are Justice Ifeanyichukwu Anunobi, Ugwumba Eloka Charles, Okeke ifeanyi Victor, Nduka Ononiwu, Obasi Chisom. The rest include Chukwu Chidiebube Emmanuel, Ebuka Owoh Bonaventure, Stephen Obinna Chukwu and Victor Chimere Opuniju,

The anti-graft agency said investigation showed that they impersonated foreigners to defraud their victims.

Two vehicles, 26 mobile phones and six laptops were recovered at the time of arrest.

In another report, The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared Pastor Emmanuel Gbaruko of Dominion City, located in the World Bank area of Owerri, Imo State, wanted over an alleged ₦183 million theft.

the Commission also declared one Ikechukwu Iroekwe culpable and wanted for the same offense.

According to a statement by the EFCC, Gbaruko, 42, is a native of Umuahia, Abia State.

The anti-graft agency noted that his last known address was Eze Akri Street through Umuezuo Naze off Poultry, No. 5 Bus-Stop, Naze, Owerri, Imo State; while Iroekwe, 43, a native of Umuariam Obowo Local Government Area of Imo State lived at CJ Street off Malaysia Area by Dr Festus Uzokwe Close, Umuagu Umuguma, Owerri West LGA, Imo State.

The commission called on members of the public with useful information as to their whereabouts to report to its Benin, Kaduna, Ibadan, Sokoto, Gombe, Maiduguri, Makurdi, llorin, Enugu, Kano, Lagos, Gombe, Port Harcourt and/or Abuja offices or contact the agency through these numbers 09-9044751-3, 08093322644, 08183322644, 070-26350721-3, 070-6350 724-5; this e-mail address; [email protected], or the nearest police station and other security agencies.’
