Abia APC: Emenike Finally Inaugurates Harmonisation Team

Listen to article

In a major rejig of the political party, a 12-member harmonisation team who would be overseeing the activities of the party in the State has been constituted for the Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Some of the roles of the team would be to sustain the peace gained by the party following the reconciliation of warring groups.

Ikechi Emenike who is the governorship candidate of the party had inaugurated the Harmonisation Committee which includes Senator Chris Adighije as Chairman with Nkeiruka Onyejeocha serving as Secretary. Other members of the Committee are Chris Okpechi, Emeka Wogu, Emeka Atuma, Ben Kalu, Chidi Avadja, Fabian Okonkwo, Donatus Nwankpa, Ben Godson, Solomon Alozie, and Ikenna Anyalewechi.

The Harmonisation committee had become necessary as the Abia APC Chapter had been in deep crisis for many years with a factional group setting up its own leadership structure hence the Senator Abdullahi Adamu-led National Working Committee (NWC) decided to resolve the issues.

The APC National Chairman (South), Chief Emma Eneukwu, was therefore mandated by some of the party’s bigwigs to actually lead the charge for peace in the State. He had also convened several meetings with the various contending parties and also followed up with joint meetings of the major protagonists in the party. Chief Eneukwu’s peace efforts led to a sharing formula of elective offices for the 2023 election which both parties agreed to. This agreement was endorsed by the APC NWC.

The smooth implementation of that agreement by the APC leadership significantly calmed frayed nerves within the Abia chapter of the party and also paved the way for the successful meeting at Ntalakwu Oboro on June 18.
