It added that ‘over the years, as Local Government Chairman, Chief of Staff to the Governor of Enugu State, Secretary to Enugu State Government, three-time Senator of the Federal Republic and two-time Deputy Senate President, Senator Ekweremadu remains outstanding in his dedication to the development and welfare of Nigerians.

‘We appreciate Senator Ekweremadu’s contributions alongside other PDP leaders in stabilizing our Party in furtherance of the mission to Rescue and Rebuild our nation from the misrule of the All Progressives Congress (APC).’

The PDP congratulated Senator Ekweremadu, the Ikeoha Ndi Igbo, on the auspicious occasion and prayed that God bless and grant him many more years in good health.

The Eastern Updates had earlier reported that the Former Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, yesterday, recounted some of his ordeals in the past noting that the State Governor would remain his brother notwithstanding any political differences they may have.

The lawmaker, who spoke during a thanksgiving service to mark his 60th birthday at the Cathedral Church of the Good Shepherded (Anglican Communion) in Enugu, said he was abducted right at the Enugu metropolis in the year 2000 and was driven to Anambra State.

He, however, said despite all his ordeals, God’s faithfulness had kept him going.

Ekweremadu said that as a young man, he beseeched God to lift him so he would be able to lift his people and the people of Enugu State.
