There was serious pandemonium in Akalovo, Emekuku, Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State on Sunday morning as residents woke up to the corpse of a young man who was reportedly slaughtered on Saturday night in what looked like a cult war.
The Eastern Updates visited the site of the incident to only to meet the gory sight of the young man lying lifeless at the scene.
The uncertainty surrounding his death has caused residents to run for safety, with many of the opinion that it was an initiation attempt as the area is said to be a den of cultists who operate without hindrance.
A resident, who lives around the area while speaking to The Eastern Updates, under the condition of anonymity said; ‘The young man lying lifeless was slaughtered last night at Akalovo Emekuku, Owerri in what looked like a cult war.’

He went to add that, ‘The police division at Toronto Uratta has been allegedly contacted but they are yet to respond.
‘There is panic in the community as the area is said to be a den of cultists who operate without hindrance.
As at the time of filing this report, residents were sighted scampering for safety with many of them positing that they don’t understand what is happening again.
Most of the residents urged the government and security agencies to rise to the occasion by providing adequate security to enable citizens of the State to go about their daily activities without fear.
Many residents who spoke to The Eastern Updates insisted that cultists were most likely the ones behind the killing as this is not the first time such gruesome murder was reported around the area which has always turned out to be cult wars.
