The crisis rocking the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) is far from being over as a faction of the party in Rivers state has suspended some members of the party in the state on allegations bordering on Anti-Party activities and also recommended their expulsion.

According to a report, the Rivers State All Progressives Congress (APC), Caretaker Committee led by Ogbobula Isaac, a faction loyal to the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amechi, on Saturday, suspended Sen. Magnus Abe, Hon. Igo Aguma, Barr. Wogu Boms, and Livingstone Wechie. They were suspended for alleged anti-party activities.

The State Chairman of APC Caretaker Committee, Isaac Abbot-Ogbobula, announced that the suspension of Abe, Aguma, Wogu Bom, was based on a communication from the party’s wards and local government. Isaac also recommended the expulsion of Sen. Abe and others from the party.

Furthermore, the ruling party also expelled persons, who were inaugurated as caretaker committee leaders in various wards and local government areas by Igo Aguma led faction. The APC members took the party to court despite the moves and interventions of the national leadership of the party.

But Aguma while reacting to the development, through his Media Adviser, Livingstone Wechie, described Ogbobula as cheerleader and Chairman of an aggrieved group within the APC loyal to Rotimi Amaechi.
Wechie said Ogbobula remains an unrepentant impostor in the party and his action constituted an act of desperation and self-help insisting that his group lacked existence in Rivers.

He said: ‘the actions of Ogbobula are a just a show of extreme desperation particularly being a supposed legal Practitioner who is in Court. It further indicates that he has no regard for judicial processes and cannot wait for the court which he approached to determine his fate.

‘It is important to state that there is no order of Court anywhere restraining Igo Aguma from functioning as the Acting/Caretaker Committee Chairman of the party. The Appeal Court during a proceeding on or about October 30, 2020 reaffirmed that it did not make any order restraining, Igo Aguma from functioning as the Chairman of the APC in Rivers state.’

‘In the meantime, we are aware that earlier today December 19, 2020, Isaac Ogbobula was declared suspended by Ward 10 where he belongs and confirmed by his Local Government Ahoada-East Caretaker Committee and transmitted to the state Caretaker Committee which has referred his matter to the State disciplinary Committee for action.’

‘For the records, every statement or concocted declarations made by Ogbobula today in his desperation remain invalid and of no effect.’
