As commendations continue to trail the completion of the Enugu International Airport, a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former governorship candidate in Imo State, Uche Nwosu, has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for remodelling of the Airport to a world-class standard.

Nwosu said that by the upgrading of the Airport, the construction of the second Niger Bridge and the proposed Enugu-Aba-Port Harcourt rail project, President Buhari has justified the mandate given to him by the Igbo.

He observed that with the Enugu International Airport fully operational, the Southeast will further be opened to commercial activities that will impact the economy of the zone.

Nwosu therefore urged the Igbo to continue to support and partner the Buhari’s administration to identify our areas of need that should be addressed.

According to him, “with the completion of the Enugu International Airport, the construction of the second Niger Bridge and Enugu-Aba-Port Harcourt rail project, President Muhamamadu Buhari has shown that he is committed to the infrastructural development in the Southeast.

“I keep saying it that it is not just about appoints. My appointment for instance or that of any other person can’t meet the challenges in the zone and once it does not bring food on the table of the common masses in the zone, it means nothing.

“You can have 100 people appointed into government from one zone and they don’t have roads, airport, bridges and their schools are not constructed, so what then is the benefit of the appointments. So, the appointment I cherish is infrastructure development. If president Muhammadu Buhari has constructed the second Niger Bridge, if he has transformed the Enugu airport, if he has done the Port Harcourt-Owerri road, the Owerri-Aba road, then it is the best appointment, that is the kind of appointment I expect, not the appointment that will bring nothing to the zone”.

Nwosu also commended the Ministers of Aviation and Transport, Hadi Sirika and Rotimi Amaechi for their commitment to the revamping of critical infrastructure in the country.
