Ebonyi CP Calls For Transparency In 774,000 Jobs Recruitment

Ebonyi State Commissioner of Police, Philip Maku, yesterday called for transparency in recruitment of 774,000 workers.

Maku made the call in Abakaliki during the inauguration of Ebonyi State Selection Committee for the Special Public Works Programme. He advised that recruitment should be based on merit.

The police chief, who was represented by Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, Umaru Orji, further stated that only those willing to work should be recruited.

Chairman, Ebonyi State Extended Special Public Works Programme of the Federal Government, Edward Nkwegu, stated that Federal Government had put modalities in place for the empowerment of 13, 000 indigent and workers across the 13 local government areas of Nkwegu explained that 1,000 persons would be recruited per local government .

He said, “They would be paid a total of N60,000 each “They would be engaged in road rehabilitation and Social Housing Construction, Urban and Rural Sanitation, Health Extension and other critical services.”
