The Labour Party’s National Publicity Secretary, Abayomi Arabambi, has described Kenneth Okonkwo’s departure from the party as a welcome development. He stated that Okonkwo’s exit brings relief as the party focuses on strengthening its structure and preparing to challenge the current administration in the 2027 elections.
Labour Party’s National Publicity Secretary, Abayomi Arabambi, dismissed concerns over Kenneth Okonkwo’s departure, stating that the party remains unwavering in its mission. Speaking on Politics Today on Channels Television on Wednesday, Arabambi described Okonkwo’s resignation as inconsequential, insisting that the party remains strong and focused.
Okonkwo, who served as the party’s spokesperson during the 2023 elections, had tendered his resignation on Tuesday, citing the party’s lack of structure and relevance as key reasons for his decision to move on. However, Arabambi downplayed these claims, maintaining that the Labour Party is still a formidable force ahead of the 2027 elections.
”And we wish mR Kenneth Okonkwo well, his resignation is good riddance to bad rubbish. He should not speak about the Labour Party anymore” Arabambi said.
”There is no leadership crisis in the Labour Party. Labour Party is not going into extinction. It is just a figment of the imaginations of most of our detractors.
Arabambi further alleged that Okonkwo had been working in collusion with the ruling party all along, claiming that his loyalty to the Labour Party was questionable from the start. According to the LP Secretary, Okonkwo’s departure only confirms what many within the party had suspected—that his commitment was never truly aligned with their cause.
According to the LP Secretary, the Nollywood actor has been in collusion with the ruling party as his loyalty was never with the Labour Party.

”The APC man has been working with President Tinubu before, that is Kenneth Okonkwo, he worked against Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar in the 2023 elections. We wish him well and we will meet in 2027.”
However, Arabambi stated that the party will not tolerate any form of ”political rascality” as proactive steps are in place to weed out those who have loyalties elsewhere.
”But in 2027 we are not going to have such political rascality in our party. The National Chairman is on a reconciliatory mission which is why you see a lot of people being jittery.”
When asked why his party is yet to pay vendors two years later, he said,” Two people will be able to answer that, that is Aishat Yesufu and Itua Ighodalo. They were in charge of the party funds and not even the party They handled party money and they should settle that..”
In 2024, Arabambi called on the EFCC to investigate Aisha Yesufu, Pastor Itua Ighodalo, and other prominent figures, including Peter Obi, for alleged embezzlement and misappropriation of the party’s campaign fund.
He had alleged that they were involved in the mismanagement and diversion of over N12 billion and $15 million in donations intended for the Labour Party’s campaign.
