The US Justice Department threatened to prosecute local and state authorities that fail to comply with Trump’s immigration directives, which include a pledge to deport millions of undocumented immigrants.

Reports indicate that Nigerians and other African nationals residing illegally in the United States could soon face deportation as part of the American government’s intensified immigration enforcement. This development has sparked widespread concern among affected communities and advocacy groups.

The Nigerian community living illegally in the United States is on edge after President Donald Trump declared a crackdown on undocumented immigrants. The prospect of deportation has become a pressing concern, casting a shadow of fear over their daily lives.

Donald Trump, upon becoming the 47th President of the United States, wasted no time in signing a series of executive orders aimed at tightening immigration laws. One of the most significant changes was the cessation of birthright citizenship for children born to undocumented immigrants, a policy shift that has drawn both criticism and support.

Local and state officials have been put on notice by the U.S. Justice Department, which has vowed to prosecute any jurisdictions that fail to comply with President Trump’s immigration policies. Among these directives is a commitment to expel millions of undocumented immigrants, a move that has drawn sharp criticism from various quarters.

Following the directive, 538 illegal immigrants were deported from the United States on Thursday. Meanwhile, Trump’s Press Secretary, Karoline Leavitt, disclosed on her official X handle that ‘the largest massive deportation operation in history is well underway.’
