Makama said Turji’s decision to “free the captives is linked to the intense pressure mounted by the Nigerian Armed Forces under Operation Hadarin Daji and Operation Forest Sanity.”
In other news, recent airstrikes and ground offensives targeting his hideouts in Fakai, Shinkafi, and surrounding areas have significantly weakened his group, forcing them into retreat.
Makama added: “The release of the captives is being seen as a strategic move by Turji to avoid further escalation or a direct confrontation with security forces who have been closing in on him.
“The troops have vowed to get him whether dead or Alive.”
Infamous bandit leader Bello Turji reportedly sought reinforcements from seven allied commanders within his network but was met with rejection.
According to intelligence sources, Turji, under relentless pressure from continuous military offensives in the Northwest, reached out to the commanders for assistance in his fight against the advancing troops.
Zagazola Makama, an expert in counter-terrorism in lake Chad region, revealed, that the commanders refused his appeal, leaving Turji isolated. Their decision was reportedly influenced by fears that joining forces with him could expose them to the escalating military operations.
