Minister: Tinubu Has Plans To Stop Hunger, Unemployment

Minister Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, holding the portfolio of State for Labour and Productivity, remarked that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has shown a proactive approach to understanding Nigeria’s difficulties. She affirmed that he has outlined comprehensive plans aimed at addressing these problems with tangible solutions.

During a series of meetings with key stakeholders and community groups in Abia State, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha reassured the people of the state, offering them a message of optimism. She urged them to place their trust in the leadership of President Bola Tinubu, emphasizing the positive changes his administration is committed to bringing about.

The minister engaged in a series of important discussions with the leaderships of key organizations, including the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), and the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN). Additionally, she held separate talks with traditional rulers at the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, further strengthening her outreach to diverse sectors of society.

The minister assured that President Bola Tinubu is fully determined to address the persistent challenge of hunger in the country. She further stated that the president is equally committed to empowering the vast youth population, equipping them with the skills and resources required to create long-lasting sources of income and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s economy.

Onyejeocha said that the Ministry Labour has put in place a new programme for the empowerment of Nigerian youths, noting that unemployment and hunger would be drastically reduced in the country.

According to her, the initiative entails assisting youths to acquire functional skills for self-reliance thereby transforming many unemployed youths from job seekers to employers of labour.

She specifically told labour leaders that Tinubu would continue to make workers’ welfare a priority, adding that the national minimum wage recently increased to N70,000 would periodically be reviewed in line with economic realities.

She said that workers remain an integral part of government hence the Labour Ministry would keep track of every promise the President had made to workers to ensure their fulfilment.

Onyejeocha, who has been involved in several negotiations to pacify workers, appealed to Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to cultivate a harmonious relationship with the government devoid of strikes in order to enhance productivity and efficient service delivery.

In their respective responses, leaders of the various groups at the meeting lauded the Minister of State for Labour and Productivity, Onyejeocha, for initiating the engagement with the various segments of Abia stakeholders.
