Your Life Threat Allegations Are Baseless – Ganduje Mocks Obi

Listen to article

The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has described claims by Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate of the opposition Labour Party (LP), alleging threats to his life as “unfortunate, misleading, and outright falsehood.”

In a statement released in Abuja on Wednesday night, Ganduje dismissed Obi’s accusations as “sheer mischief” and a “malicious lie” aimed at garnering public sympathy and playing the victim. While noting that such claims could have been ignored, he stated the need to refute the narrative to prevent further misinformation.

Ganduje expressed concern over the allegations, which were shared on Obi’s verified X handle. He accused the LP standard bearer of misrepresenting remarks made by APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka during an interview on Arise TV on January 4, 2025.

“At no point did Morka threaten Obi or his family. By falsely claiming that Morka issued threats, Mr. Obi has incited his supporters to issue death threats against Morka and his family, which is both dangerous and unwarranted,” Ganduje stated.

The APC Chairman criticized Obi for spreading falsehoods, emphasizing that as a public figure, the LP candidate has a duty to ensure accuracy in his public statements.

He added that misleading narratives undermine public trust and democratic values

In other news, Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has said that former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has not dumped the All Progressives Congress, APC.

This comes as Sule dismissed the possibility of some opposition figures, including El-Rufai, forming a merger ahead of the 2027 elections.

Sule’s remark follows a strategic meeting between El-Rufai, Chairman of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, Shehu Gabam, Hamza Al-Mustapha, and Segun Sowunmi, an ally of Atiku Abubakar.

The closed-door meeting, held at the SDP Secretariat in Abuja, reviewed the state of opposition engagement in the country.

Speaking about the meeting, Gabam said he was open to conversations centred around a better Nigeria.
