Minister of Federal Capital Territory and former Rivers State Governor Nyesome Wike has attacked one of his predecessors, ex-Rivers State Governor Peter Odili, saying he brought the latter back to life in state politics after years of being in a comatose state.

Wike disclosed this on Sunday in a trending video on X.

His comments come amid recent remarks by Odili that Governor Siminilayi Fubara of Rivers State stopped Wike from making the state his private estate.

Reacting, Wike said: “What our former governor said is unfortunate. This is somebody who is supposed to be an elder statesman and a father. He said the president has been able to stop one politician, one man who wants to convert Rivers State to his personal estate.

“You remember when I was a governor, Odili praised me to high heavens. In fact, he said no governor combined has done what I did. Why in 2007, when he left power, he couldn’t be near power because Ameachi was in power? He was gone. When I came in as governor in 2015, I brought him back to life.”

This comes as Wike said he is focused on his assignment as Minister of Federal Capital Territory.

In other news, Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory FCT, Nyesom Wike has knocked a former Governor of Rivers State, Dr Peter Odili over a recent remark against his principal.

The Eastern Updates reports that Odili had during a Christmas ballad organized by himself in honour of Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his family, said that the incumbent Governor courageously stopped Wike from making Rivers State his private estate.

According to Odili, Fubara summoned an unusual fortitude to confront the quest by the FCT Minister to capture the state through ferocious but unnecessary political war.

Reacting, Olayinka in a post on his official X handle, described Odili’s comment as disappointing, stating that the former governor, who is expected to act as an elder statesman, has reduced himself to a ridiculous level.
