The Federal Government is set to bring five alleged associates of the infamous terrorist leader, Bello Turji, before the Federal High Court in Abuja today (Monday). This arraignment marks a critical step in the government’s broader efforts to dismantle networks tied to one of the country’s most notorious figures in organized terror.

According to court documents marked FHC/ABJ/CR/633/2024 and presented before Justice Emeka Nwite, the Federal Government claims that the defendants orchestrated the importation of a military gun truck worth N28.5 million from Libya. This allegation forms part of a broader case highlighting their alleged involvement in high-level security breaches.

Detained by Nigerian security agencies, the suspects will be brought before Justice Emeka Nwite, serving as a vacation judge, for arraignment led by the Attorney-General of the Federation’s office. Their court appearance signals the next step in the government’s pursuit of justice.

Although their arraignment was initially set for Friday, the suspects’ plea could not be taken due to the absence of legal representation. In response, the Attorney-General’s lawyer, David Kaswe, requested a brief adjournment to allow the suspects time to secure counsel of their choice. Justice Emeka Nwite has rescheduled their arraignment for Monday.
