A disturbing video surfaced on Sunday, showing Syrian Prime Minister Mohammad Ghazi Al-Jalali being escorted by armed rebels in the heart of Damascus. As the footage unfolds, it becomes clear that the prime minister was being taken to a hotel, where he was reportedly to hand over government authority.

Captured in the video, Syrian Prime Minister Mohammad Ghazi Al-Jalali is surrounded by armed rebels, as he carefully descends a staircase. The prime minister, flanked by another individual, enters a black SUV, a clear sign of the authority being transferred under duress.

The unsettling footage sheds light on the fragile power dynamics in Damascus, as forces opposed to the government continue to tighten their grip on key areas of the city.

“The former Prime Minister is with the 5th Corps from the people of Hauran heading to the Four Seasons Hotel for a meeting and to hand over the country’s institutions to the heroes of the Free Army,” a man is heard saying in the video.

Before the video emerged showing Prime Minister Mohammad Ghazi Al-Jalali being escorted by rebels, he had reaffirmed his dedication to ensuring the operation of Syria’s public institutions and state facilities. His focus was also on maintaining the safety and security of all citizens.

However, the video captured a moment of vulnerability, suggesting a growing gap between his assurances and the chaotic situation in Damascus.On Sunday, the streets of Damascus witnessed an outpouring of emotion as thousands of Syrians gathered in a central square, chanting “Freedom.”

The mass celebration was not just a call for liberation but also a symbol of the collapse of President Bashar al-Assad’s regime, which had long been entrenched in the chaos of civil war. After more than 13 years of conflict, the crowds dared to imagine a future beyond oppression, although the road ahead remains fraught with uncertainty.

The fall of Damascus to Islamist rebels marked the definitive collapse of the Assad family’s decades-long rule in Syria. In the face of overwhelming opposition, Bashar al-Assad and his family were forced into hiding, fleeing to an undisclosed location, as the regime they built came to a crushing end.

Syria’s army command informed officers that Assad’s rule had ended, though military operations reportedly continued against “terrorist groups” in Hama, Homs, and the Deraa countryside.
